Meet the Herd: Fritz
A Little Mischievous? Maybe 😉
Fritz may be the youngest member of the herd, but he’s one of the most reliable and chilled out horses on the team. His easy-going nature makes him a remarkably safe and steady mount for young learners, providing a sense of security for riders of all levels.
While he takes his job seriously, Fritz is widely considered the resident comedian; often described as a "clown" by volunteers and instructors. He’s always looking for ways to make his human friends laugh with his playful antics. He thrives on attention and has a particularly soft spot for the organization's director, Anne Davis — mostly because she appreciates his sense of humor and occasionally carries a peppermint or two in her pockets.
As a classic Haflinger, Fritz is stocky and strong, sporting a bright star on his forehead and a golden coat that truly shines in the summer sun. He is perhaps best known for his thick, cream-colored mane, which he is famous for tossing right before he gets into a bit of mischief. This playful, social, and affectionate personality makes him a favorite among the staff, as he brings a unique blend of steady reliability and joyful energy to everyone he meets.
When he isn’t working, Fritz loves nothing more than being out in the field with his herd mates. He is a firm believer in the importance of "horse time," using his hours outside to relax, socialize, and engage in those signature antics. Whether he is working with a participant or grazing in the sunshine, Fritz is a proud and essential member of the HWH team.
