Winter Fun With the Herd
When winter temperatures dip too low for extended time in the paddocks—even with insulated, waterproof blankets—we make sure our horses still get the movement and connection they need. On especially bitter days, we bring them out of their stalls for a supervised “time out” in the round pen. This indoor break gives the herd a chance to socialize, stretch their legs, and burn off energy.
Caring for the herd during snowy, chilly months can be a challenge, but we are truly blessed at Horses With Hope. Our well-maintained facilities, reliable equipment that helps with daily chores, and the dedication of our amazing volunteers all work together to keep the horses fed, warm, healthy, and safe throughout the winter.
While the horses seem to be making the most of their winter routine, we think it’s safe to say the humans are already counting down the days until spring arrives!
