Meet the Herd: Johnny Cash
Our Red-Coated Star
This handsome gelding joined the herd in 2025, bringing a wealth of experience and a "can-do" attitude with him. Before arriving at the farm, he lived a busy life with a family who shared his love for adventure. Whether it was navigating quiet trails or the fast-paced world of barrel racing and Western events, he proved himself to be a versatile and highly trained athlete.
Johnny Cash is a favorite among riders who appreciate a horse with "buttons." Thanks to his high level of training, he:
Neck reins with ease and precision.
Shows off a "really pretty" spin that never fails to impress.
Transitions seamlessly from athletic maneuvers to patient lesson work.
Life at HWH
Since moving on to his new chapter at HWH, he has become a cornerstone of the lesson program. He truly shines duringsummer camp where he participated in daily riding lessons and served as a very patient subject for horse science classes. He especially loves the "spa days" that come with camp; nothing makes him happier than a bath and a conditioned mane and tail that make his vibrant red coat gleam in the sun.
A True Ambassador
Beyond the arena, he is a social butterfly. In December 2025 he was a guest of honor at the Denim and Diamonds fundraising event. Dressed in his holiday best, he charmed guests and posed for festive photos, helping to make the day truly magical for everyone involved.
Whether he’s hanging out in the field with his new friends or teaching a student the ropes, he does it all with style and a heart of gold.
