Meet the Newest Member of Our Herd… Micah!
We are thrilled to introduce the newest face in our barn, a handsome American Quarter Horse gelding named Micah.
Micah comes to us with an incredible resume of service. For over 15 years he dedicated his days to teaching children the art of riding at the Shekinah Western Youth Ranch. That decade-and-a-half of experience shines through in his gentle demeanor; he is the definition of kind and patient, making him a perfect fit for the Therapeutic Riding Program.
A Name with Meaning
Micah’s name isn't just a label—it’s a mission. Named after the biblical prophet, his presence serves as a living reminder of a powerful message:
"Do justice and love goodness, and walk humbly with our God."
True to his namesake, Micah encourages everyone he meets to lead with kindness. Whether he is working with a child during a lesson or greeting a volunteer, he carries an air of humble grace that is felt by everyone on the farm.
Making New Friends
While transitioning to a new home can be a big step, Micah has settled in seamlessly. He has already found a "core four" within the herd! He has been spotted playing in the round pen with his high-energy pals, Sonny and CJ, napping in the sun with his best friend Cash.
Though he enjoys the company of the entire HWH herd, these three have quickly become his go-to companions for both playtime and rest.
Micah is eager to get to work and can't wait to meet all of our riders, families, and supporters. Next time you’re at the farm, be sure to stop by his stall or the field to give him a warm Pittsburgh welcome!
